CHCA contracts with New York agencies to provide home care services for individuals who are elderly, chronically ill, or living with disabilities. We also provide "private pay" home health care, from a minimum of 12 hours per week to 24 hours a day, seven days a week. If you become a CHCA private pay client, our registered nurses will work with you and your doctor to develop a care plan that best suits your needs.
Your CHCA home care worker can provide and/or assist with the following personal services:
Bathing, dressing, and walking; Transferring (e.g. from bed to chair);
Planning, preparing, and if necessary, feeding meals; toileting;
An exercise program prescribed by a nurse or a physical therapist;
Taking your temperature, pulse, and respiration;
Opening, closing, storing, re-ordering, and reminding you to take your medications;
Accompanying you on specific errands (e.g. doctor appointments, shopping); and
Providing companionship and establishing a trusting, dependable relationship.
Your home care worker can also perform light housekeeping, such as changing and making your bed, vacuuming dusting, and light laundering, but cannot perform heavy household tasks (such as laundry for the entire household, moving furniture, or washing windows and walls).
