About Us

Cooperative Home Care Associates (CHCA) is a nationally recognized, South Bronx-based owner home care agency. Founded in 1985 to provide quality home care to clients by providing quality jobs for paraprofessionals, CHCA now anchors a national cooperative network generating over $60 million annually in revenue and creating quality jobs for over 1600 individuals.

Our Goals

We work to:

  • Offer the highest possible salaries and benefits while building a profitable worker-owned company;
  • Give workers opportunities to learn and grow as members of a health care team; and in doing so
  • Provide reliable, high-quality home health care services to individuals who are elderly, chronically ill, or living with disabilities. Read more >

Quality Care through quality jobs
We provide quality care by employing home care workers in quality jobs, which include:

  • An enhanced four-week home health aide training program;
  • A "coaching" style of supervision; and
  • A support network - including a peer mentoring program.

In order to provide this philosophy...

we partner with the Paraprofessional Healthcare Institute (PHI), a policy/advocacy organization working to create a stable valued, direct-care workforce, and Independence Care System (ICS), a managed care organization providing services to individuals with disabilities who choose to remain living in their homes and communities. .

Our Quality Care/Quality Jobs framework has earned respect and support from regional and national organizations, including:
